Every Saturday and Sunday 11-4pm beginning June 6- October 31, 2015 FarmOn! presents a series of weekend events strengthening the connection between food, the environment and ourselves with partners and celebrities. As part of the summer celebration of the newly opened Children’s Zoo, FarmOn! will provide guest programming activities that expand on the domestic animal farm area at the Bronx Zoo. In association with the education department, FarmOn! Foundation will host a number of interactive experiencesHow Does Our Garden Grow: Meet your Farmer and Planting a Garden to reconnect with seed & soil, Composting, Soil & Earthworms, Father’s Day Weekend – Pick, Plant and Cook with Dad – Healthy Eating, Be a Bee – Importance of Our Pollinators ) that align with our mission and support the following goals: Connect visitors to nature and natural processes, generate awareness of and interest in engagement in sustainable actions that relate to gardening, compost, pollination and how to eat! Gain insight into our actions and how they affect the planet beyond your tastebuds. You are what you (and they) eat!
