Succession + Commerce + Community + Sustainability

Raising your replacement is a legacy in a multi-generational farm. Without our food choices driving demand, those kids will leave the farm to pursue careers off the land, and there will be no succession in farming. If this occurs, we will lose our family farms and viable, local livelihoods that come from them.

We Need Your Support

FarmOn! Foundation seeks to reinvigorate a respect for farming by bringing awareness to better food choices and sources to inspire youth careers in agriculture and succession on family farms. That leaves us eating from factories not family farms. Whether it be large or small, your support is priceless and helps to ensure our important work continues for the FarmOn! Foundation.

FarmOn! is a Movement!

A collaboration of professional farmers, educators, influencers, supporters, nutritionists, students and community leaders invested in the future of local agriculture and supporting local economies.

Agriculture based economic development efforts are facing an uphill battle against the realities of today’s farming environment and the big business of cheap food. The Hudson Valley is particularly vulnerable to farmland losses, given the attractive development opportunities in our region. The FarmOn! Foundation promotes on-farm economic development in order to preserve our region’s status as a bustling, alluring, and agriculturally proud place to live, in the region’s largest second home buying market.

Local Food is Our Future

We can no longer afford to truck food from thousands of miles away, sacrificing nutrition, wasting energy and undermining local farming economies in the process. Only by reconnecting consumers with the importance of their local farmers can we reverse this dangerous and unsustainable trend.

The oldest honorable profession, farming, needs to be re-established for our health, our children and the economy of our rural communities. Not until the costs of trucking, storage and distribution are redirected to the local farmer will farming once again become a profitable business, and attract future generations of farmers.

Young people are more and more aware of the importance of their food choices, which has reignited an interest in farming. In order to maintain that interest, these young entrepreneurs need to understand how they can make a living in agriculture with vocational pathways, applied learning credentials, skill sets and market share that teach sustainability mindful of production focused on profitability.

FarmOn! Makes a Difference!

That is where the FarmOn! Foundation will make a critical difference: by reversing the trend of Agribusiness and bringing it back to re-establishing economically and environmentally sustainable family farm small-scale operations and building robust local economies.

By educating entrepreneurially-oriented youth on how to create economically and environmentally sustainable farming operations that support succession across generations, we engage local communities to participate in the production, distribution and consumption of locally produced food products. We develop commerce as an economic engine in the Hudson Valley as a pilot program, and change the future of farming as we look to implement the concept beyond New York borders.

Farmers Wanted!

FarmOn! Foundation is a leading voice in the locavore movement, providing food education and farm preservation for the community at large while connecting consumers to local small scale and family farms to experience seed, soil and how to eat. We practice ecological farming and integrate scientific curriculum into hands on learning. We develop a skill set for entrepreneurs by creating an enterprise and a go to market strategy with a business plan and market share to monetize.

Hootenanny 2014
With hundreds of farmers and influencers in our network and thousands of public supporters, we enter our next phase of growth with excitement and confidence launching an Ag-Academy to educate, inspire and experience working on a farm, visiting a community center for education and being part of an economic engine to rebuild local economies and attract future generations to keep feeding us well.
Through connecting the community to seed + soil and food sourced directly from the farm, we provide hands on experiences in agriculture with interactive learning, we impress and foster change in our food ways and buying habits of consumers simply by meeting our farmers.
By teaching the population where their food comes from and providing immersive experiences, the impact is imprinting. We impact people by showing them that they can source their food just down the road from responsible and honest food sources, instead of trucking it in globally and allocating it to the big food business where packaged and processed food agenda promises convenience but sacrifices nutrition.
